The primary requirement for a kidney transplant is a blood group and tissue match between the donor and the recipient. Approximately one third of the donor-recepient pairs are not able to avail the benefits of a transplant because of a poor tissue match or incompatibility in the blood group. Swap kidney transplant is the best way to transplant such individuals in which the donors are exchanged between two such non matching pairs, so that they both get a complete match and are able to receive a swap kidney.
